I was walking out of a store with a single door propped open, I came to the door just a little before the other guy and awkwardly kinda cut in front of him and said excuse me. HOWEVER, just the moment before that, the guy had burped as he walked up to the door. Is the burden of “excuse me” on me? Or on the guy who burped? It can’t be both.
