World: Hero dad who took down school shooter speaks out: 'I was supposed to be there'

Kaylub Giamanco, a carpenter and resident of Bend, Oregon, fatally shot an armed gunman at Silver Rail Elementary School on October 15, 2026. The gunman had already killed three students and a teacher before Giamanco, whose two daughters attend the school, entered the building. Giamanco crawled through shattered front doors and entered a special needs classroom where he confronted the gunman and fired multiple shots. While the gunman was killed, one student and one teacher remained injured. Giamanco was lauded by law enforcement and the family of victim Megan Lambert for his actions during the shooting.
