The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) rejected applications for additional train services on the West Coast Main Line. The rejected proposals included five daily return services between Wrexham General and London Euston from Wrexham, Shropshire and Midlands Railway (WSMR), up to four weekday and Saturday return services between Rochdale and Euston from Lumo, and additional services between Blackpool and Euston from Avanti West Coast.

The regulator determined that the line is under significant pressure and adding services would reduce the ability to recover from disruptions, increasing the risk of delays. These decisions follow similar rejections in 2025.
