I understand business is not always booming, but the best way to do business in sports is to be relevant and to be relevant you have to win. So many owners just don't want to spend the extra money to get that missing piece or retain a star or fringe star. It makes no sense that you would buy a team without any intention of being competitive. look at the mariners, the bulls, now the Celtics for example.
